ISLAMABAD, Sept 16: Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Tanweer Hussain Syed on Friday informed the National Assembly that PIA had considerably reduced fares on domestic routes during the last three months. During a question hour in the House, he said because of competition in the market, PIA had to reduce fares on different domestic routes.

PIA had enhanced 40 per cent capacity of its 36-aircraft fleet on domestic routes to meet growing needs of passengers on various routes, he added.

Answering another question, he said last year PIA had sent abroad 12 engines of various aircraft for repair as the corporation did not have this facility in Pakistan.—APP
