KARACHI, Sept 16: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board will start repair work on 48-inch dia water pipeline in Azam Nagar, Liaquatabad, from September 21 which continue for the next three days.

As a result, water supply will remain suspended for 60 hours in some areas of the city, including Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Old Golimar, Raxer Lane, parts of SITE, Pak Colony, Shershah, PAF Base Masroor, Kanupp, Mauripur, Gulbai and Baldia Pump House, according to a press release issued by the Board on Friday.

The water supply to the affected area will normalize fully by September 28, said a KWSB spokesman, who added that before suspending the water supply, it would be ensured that these areas were receiving more quantity of water than their quota in order to enable people to store a sufficient quantity for use during the suspension period.

Regarding the damaged pipeline, the spokesman said that thousands of gallons of water had been going waste due to leakage from the damaged section of the main supply line. He attributed the damage to the large scale construction work carried out in Azam Nagar. —APP
