KARACHI, Sept 16: A couple and their child were killed by unknown persons who dumped their bodies in North Nazimabad graveyard some time early on Friday morning. Police shifted the bodies to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy. The family was identified as Sadiq Alam, an inspector of Income Tax department, his wife Firdous and four-year-old son Uzaifa.

Police said that information about the presence of bodies was passed on in form of an SMS from Sadiq Alam’s cellphone to his brother’s cellphone.

Apparently, there were no injury marks on the bodies, hospital sources said that they were poisoned to death.

Post-mortem report has been reserved and viscera’s have been sent for chemical examination, hospital sources said.

According to the initial investigations the killings seems to be a result of some family dispute which might be linked to property matters, the TPO said.

The family resided in the North Karachi sector 11-E, according to the neighbours they were last seen on Thursday evening leaving the house along with some people.

Till filing of this report no arrests were made by the police in connection with the killings.

In Nazimabad, a young man was shot dead by unknown persons on Friday. Police said Junaid, 30, alias Ehthasham was shot dead by unknown persons on motorcycle near his house in Jehangirabad near Hanifia Masjid.

The victim was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The family took away the body without legal formalities. When police reached his house to fulfil the formalities they were beaten up by the victim’s brothers.

Police said that Junaid was wanted in dozens of criminal cases of murder and attempt to murder and police encounters.

Police said that last case was registered against Junaid at the Rizvia Police Station for police encounter. Police said that Junaid was a former activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

In Lyari, two persons were gunned down on Thursday. Police said that a young man identified as Sajjad, 30, was asleep outside his house in Rakser lane in the limits of Kalakot Police Station when unknown persons opened fire at him and fled.

The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Earlier on late Thursday night armed men believed to be the members of the Arshad Pappu gang killed a man of Magsi tribe.

Police said that Illyas Magsi, 30, was reportedly going in a rickshaw when he was shot at allegedly by the associates of Arshad Pappu.

The victim tried to escape but was chased and killed by the armed men who later managed to escape. Following the killing tension gripped Lyari.

In Malir, unknown persons killed a woman and wounded her husband in Al Falah Society, late on Thursday night.

Police said that unknown person barged into the house of Mehmood and opened fire wounding the couple. The armed men fled following the incident.

The couple was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the woman, Subhani Bibi, was pronounced dead. Her husband Mehmood was provided treatment at the hospital.
