KARACHI, Sept 16: The Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rehim has taken serious notice of the gastroenteritis epidemic in Landhi Town consequent to consumption of polluted water.
He, on Friday, called the Provincial health secretary, Prof Naushad Shaikh and directed him to take all measures required for efficient handling of the situation.
The chief secretary informed the chief minister that doctors and paramedics of Korangi hospital have been put on high alert and all those reporting are being immediately attended and provided required medical treatment. It was also informed that the healthcare providers are on round-the-clock duty while medical camps have also been set up in the affected town.
Special measures were further stated to be taken to sensitize people as how to avoid consuming contaminated water. Public is being specifically advised to use boiled water. Drugs and all required medicines were said to be available at the hospitals in adequate quantity so that sufferers are assisted without any failure.—APP
