KARACHI, Sept 16: The Edhi Ambulance Service will sign an agreement under “Letter of Cooperation” with Sindh Health Department and Pakistan Initiative for Mothers and Newborn Health to offer transportation for health care facilities in Sukkur and Dadu districts.

A formal signing ceremony will be held at Bilquis Edhi Home for Girls on Saturday.

USAID Mission Director Lisa Chiles will be the chief guest on the occasion.

In a press briefing on Friday, Javaid Khawaja said that Edhi Ambulance Service had in principle agreed to support and strengthen organization’s pilot project in seven districts across the country.

He said that the federal government as well as all provincial governments had approved 10 pilot projects aimed at containing maternal and infant mortality/morbidity rates. Two districts each in Sindh, Balochistan and NWFP and four in Punjab had been selected under the US$50 million project, initiated in November last year, he said. —APP
