KARACHI, Sept 16: The residents of Malir have demanded early completion of work on Begum Khursheed Road from Kala Board to Saudabad roundabout. They said that work be carried out day and night so that they do not suffer from traffic jams. The area people said they had been suffering for over two years and a half owing to slow pace of the work on the road.

The town and city government authorities, they said, were not taking interest in the early completion of work on the road.

Moreover, they said that the width of the road had been reduced near Kala Board by the contractors to facilitate a private commercial concern. Besides encroachments on the footpath at Malir Tanki and at other places have not been removed which creates problems for people.

The area people have urged the Sindh governor to order the town authorities to complete the work at the earliest, and removal of encroachments should also be ensured.

Meanwhile, the residents of Darakhshan Society, B Area, Al-Ameen Society have complained of water shortage in their locality.

They said they had been facing water crisis for the last 10 days, and the authorities have taken no action despite complaints lodged to them. They said that unauthorized hydrants continue to operate and supply turbid water, but clean piped water was not available.

They said the KWSB officials said that they had been making interconnections, but had not informed how long the supply would remain suspended.

Similar, complaints have been received from parts of Khokhrapar, Saudia Colony, Kausar Town etc.

In Khokhrapar No 4, area people said that they had been receiving filthy water for the last several weeks.

They said although they had drawn the attention of the higher authorities towards the problem, but no measures had been taken, so far.
