HYDERABAD: Jamshoro SSP Amjad Ahmed Sheikh in his inquiry report submitted to the Hyderabad AIG has cleared DSP Faheem Ahmed Farooqui of shoplifting charge.

Quoting findings of his inquiry, the SSP said: “It is concluded that the allegations against Mr Faheem Ahmed Farooqui stand unproven in the light of statements of all concerned persons”.

A couple of videos that had gone viral on the social media a few days back had shown the DSP picking up some articles in two marts and allegedly leaving without making their payment. It was also alleged that he was later made to make the payment.

The report stated the managers of both the marts told the inquiry officer that the videos were not made in the recent past and might have been uploaded on the social media by some mischievous persons to defame the DSP.

It also stated that none of the staffers of the marts wanted the inquiry to continue and the DSP also refuted the allegations termed the videos ‘edited’.

Hyderabad DIG Naeem Sheikh had forwarded the videos to the AIG for further action after they were aired on some TV channels. Eventually, the inquiry was ordered by the AIG.

In a separate inquiry, DSP Farooqui was found responsible for “tampering with police record by making post-dated entry in police register”. This inquiry, ordered by the DIG, was conducted by the Sujawal SP after which departmental action was recommended against the DSP.

Recommendations of the inquiry team were forwarded to the AIG a few days back.
