BADIN, Sept 15: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the district quota for admission to universities and colleges of Karachi will remain unchanged and the file in this regard is in his office. He said it was the right of students from the interior of Sindh to get higher and professional education in institutions of Karachi.
He was talking to newsmen at the circuit house on Wednesday.
He said departments of the Sindh government would be observed for three months and he would supervise their functioning.
Mr Arbab said after the law and order and irrigation, the third priority had been given to agriculture.
He said agriculture being backbone of the economy interconnected with irrigation hence the government was striving for its improvement.
He said to ensure water availability in tail-end areas desilting work was being launched by December.
The Sindh chief minister said the next priority would be education so that standard of education be brought upto the mark.
Replying to a question, the chief minister said the PML-Q had emerged as a popular party and its candidates won with full mandate.
He said prior to nomination of candidates for nazim and naib nazim post, democratic way was adopted for candidates to prove their majority.
Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim announced names of the KPP candidates for district and taluka nazims for the district.
He claimed the decision had been taken after discussion with party office-bearers and notables.
Anwar Halepoto has been nominated as KPP candidate for district nazim post.
Mr Halepoto is the president of the PML-Q Badin district.
Abdul Mahan Shah for the post of nazim, Badin taluka, Mir Allah Bux Talpur for Talhar taluka, Hamid Rashdi for Tando Bago taluka, Aslam Raho for Shaheed Fazil Raho taluka and Mansoor Nizamani Matli taluka.
