KARACHI: Prisoner commits suicide

KARACHI, Sept 15: An inmate reportedly committed suicide in the Central Prison on Thursday morning.

Police said Ghulam Husain, 45, hanged himself in the washroom of the barrack. His body was found hanging in the washroom early in the morning.

The suspect was facing trial in a murder case.

SHOT DEAD: A young man was shot dead by unknown persons in Paposhnagar late Wednesday night.

Police said Siraj Ibrahim, 30, was standing outside his house in Ashrafnagar when unknown persons on a motorcycle opened fire on him and fled.

He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

ACCIDENT: A young man died in a road accident in Steel Town on Thursday.

Police said Khalid Saleem, 40, a pedestrian was knocked down by a speeding truck at Steel Moar. The victim died on the spot.

ARRESTED: Police have arrested parents and brother for allegedly killing a girl of their family in Naleem Colony.

Police said the girl’s father Abdullah, mother Saeeda and brother Mir Baz were arrested by the Boating Basin police and a FIR 335/05 was registered on behalf of the state.

According to reports, someone from the neighbourhood informed the police that the family members had allegedly killed Nafeeza, 14, earlier in the week and buried here the Misri Shah graveyard.

Subsequently, the police carried out initial investigation and arrested the parents and brother. A case, FIR 335/05, was registered against them in the Boating Basin police station.
