Eight activists detained

NAWABSHAH, Jan 18: Around 8 leaders and activists of banned extremist parties have been detained under the Maintenance of Public Ordinance (MPO) 1960, for 30 days, police sources told Dawn on Friday.

Those detained include Muhammad Tariq Malik, Moulana Asjad Madni, Altaf Rajput, Habibullah Khoso, Qurban Hoth, Mojuddin Bugti, Sharif Khoso (all of SSP) and Mustajab Ali of Tahreek-i-Jaferia Pakistan.

CRUSHED: One person, Muhammad Naeem, 36, was crushed to death under the wheels of a Lahore-bound night coach train, near Market Phatak, when he was crossing the railway track on Thursday night.
