KARACHI, Sept 14: A woman allegedly killed her husband on late Tuesday night in the Manghopir area. Police said Sardar Jan Mohammad returned home on Tuesday night and asked for meal.

His wife, Zar Khatoon, reportedly had an altercation with him. She struck him with a hammer in the head, which resulted in his death.

Police said Zar Khatoon, mother of four, was detained for questioning. Police suspected that the woman was suffering from mental disorder. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

KILLED: A man killed his nephew in Liaquatabad over some petty dispute, police said.

A duty officer of the Super Market police station said Abdul Rehman, 45, was shot at by his uncle Malang in C-1 Area, Bloch Para, after an exchange of hot words. The suspect fled the spot following the incident.

Police took the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy.

ACCIDENT: A young boy was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Ferozabad close to Shahrea Faisal on Wednesday.

Police said the boy who could not be identified immediately was rushed to the JPMC where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

FIRE: A fire broke out in the record room of the Old Sabzi Mandi Pak Capital telephone exchange on Wednesday.

According to Fire Brigade and police sources, they received reports that the fire had broken about at around 5:30pm in the generator room of the building of the telephone exchange.

On receiving information, two fire engines and police rushed to the spot. The tenders were employed to put out the fire. Chief Fire Officer Kazim Ali said that two generators were gutted.
