KARACHI: Niamatullah defended

Published September 15, 2005

KARACHI, Sept 14: Former town nazims belonging to the Al-Khidmat group on Wednesday ridiculed allegations of ministers and advisers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement against former city nazim Niamatullah Khan.

In a rejoinder to these allegations, they said that instead of holding the acting town and city nazims, and other city govt officials, accountable for accumulation of rainwater on roads and frequent traffic jams, these ministers and advisers were just accusing Mr Niamat, which was “ridiculous and deplorable”.

They said that owing to the inefficiency of the acting town and UC administrators appointed by the MQM-led provincial government, the citizens of Karachi had to suffer as they had done nothing during their 75-day tenure. People face hardships due to overflowing gutters and drains, they added.—PPI
