Seven shopkeepers in Hyderabad's Kohsar Latifabad area have tested positive for the coronavirus during random sampling carried out on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Faud Ghaffar Soomro.

Samples of 74 people including shopkeepers were taken on Wednesday in Kohsar Latifabad Phase-I society, a government housing scheme.

The area's medical superintendent Dr Suresh Kumar said he had informed the Hyderabad DC that he had observed people around Kohsar Hospital not following Covid-19 guidelines and not wearing face masks.

Meanwhile, three more residents of Hyderabad died of the virus in hospitals in Hyderabad and Karachi during the last 24 hours, taking the city's total death toll from the virus to 57 since April.
