KARACHI, Sept 13: The four-member crew of Queen’s Baton Relay who arrived in Pakistan on Sept 10 from Canada was given a warm welcome on their arrival here from Islamabad on Tuesday.

Secretary Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) Ahmed Ali Rajput, secretary Sindh Swimming Association Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah and office-bearers of several other sport associations welcomed the crew and showered floral petals on them. They were also presented with shields.

The delegation’s visit is in connection with 18th Commonwealth Games to be staged on March 15-26 next year in Melbourne, Australia.

Queen’s Baton Relay is as old as Commonwealth Games. It was introduced for the first time to the Games held in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales in 1958.—APP
