157 file papers in Haripur

HARIPUR, Sept 13: One hundred and fifty-seven candidates, including 60 women, filed nomination papers for 41 seats of different categories of the district and two tehsil councils on Tuesday.

The seats include those of nazim, women, peasants/workers and minority communities.

For Haripur tehsil council, 12 papers were filed for the posts of nazim and naib nazim, two for the seats of peasants, 28 for workers’ seats, 27 for 12 reserved seats for women 27 and three for minority sests.

In Ghazi Tehsil, 13 papers were filed — three for the nazim, five for women, three for peasants/workers and two for minority seat.

Among the candidates for the post of Ghazi Tehsil nazim, Azar Mumtaz Khan has the backing of PML-N’s provincial chief Pir Sabir Shah and Aslam Hayat Khan enjoys the support of the ruling PML’s provincial Deputy Parliamentary Secretary Faisal Zaman whereas Ajmal Saeed is his covering candidate.
