The government has denied that it had been "caught off-guard" as some media outlets have reported.
In a series of tweets, the government said that the authorities had expected the rise in cases after the lockdown was lifted but admitted that the "guesstimate [...] was a few thousand less infections than the current numbers on the official dashboard".
