Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister on information Ajmal Wazir said that the purpose of enforcing a 'smart lockdown' in areas with higher Covid-19 prevalence was to "save them from corona".

He stated that the government has increased beds allocated for Covid-19 patients in all hospitals in the province.

"We have complete hospitals, beds and medical equipment [and] have converted some hospitals in Peshawar and nearby areas for Covid."
