ISLAMABAD, Sept 12: The Election Commission has asked the chief secretaries to ensure full assistance from all district coordination officers, district police officers and other officers of the provincial governments to the district returning officers, returning officers and presiding officers during the third phase of local government elections.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar had also banned transfers and postings of civil and police officers till completion of the elections, Elect ion Commission Secretary Kunwar Mohammed Dilshad said on Monday.

He said services of armed forces could be requisitioned, wherever required, for maintaining peaceful environment during the elections. He said 109 DROs and 109 ROs for district councils, 382 ROs for tehsil and town councils and 1,159 POs for elections in 109 districts in the country.
