ISLAMABAD, Sept 11: The 57th death anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah was observed on Sunday with devotion and reverence. Quran Khwani was held in all big mosques across the country. In Islamabad, a large number of people attended Quran Khwani and offered fateha arranged by the Nazria-i-Pakistan Council in the Faisal Masjid.

A meeting was organized by the cultural wing of the Pakistan Muslim League at which participants vowed to continue efforts to transform the country into a prosperous, developed and moderate state in line with the wishes of the father of the nation.

In Karachi, government functionaries, political leaders and workers visited the Quaid-i-Azam’s mausoleum to pay homage to the great leader.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim laid floral wreaths and offered fateha at the mausoleum.

They pledged to follow the teachings of the Quaid-i-Azam in letter and in spirit to achieve the goals envisioned by him.

The three services chiefs also laid floral wreaths on the occasion.

A number of social, cultural and educational programmes were also held in Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta and other parts of the country to pay tribute to the Quaid-i-Azam.

Radio Pakistan, PTV and private channels aired special programmes highlighting various aspects of the Quaid’s life and newspapers brought out special editions to pay tribute to the great leader.—APP
