KARACHI: Prayer leader wounded

KARACHI, Sept 11: The prayer leader of a mosque was shot at near Al-Asif Square on Sunday night. Police said that some unidentified armed men shot at Abdur Razzaq, a local leader of JUI. The victim was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. According to the police, the victim was pesh imam of a mosque in Jannat Town, Sohrab Goth. Following the incident, enraged people resorted to firing in which a soldier of Rangers suffered bullet wounds. Some miscreants set ablaze Gulzar-i-Hijri police check-post.

ACCIDENTS: Three persons died in accidents on Sunday.

Police said that an unidentified girl was knocked down by a speeding vehicle in Landhi. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Her body was later sent to the JPMC for legal formalities.

In Orangi, a cyclist Gulzar, 14, died when a speeding tanker knocked him down. Police shifted his body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

In another hit-and-run accident, Muhammad Sharif died near the Cantonment Railway Station. His body was shifted to the JPMC.
