DHAKA, Sept 10: Four Bangladeshis were shot dead in the Indian state of Tripura, bordering Bangladesh’s Brahmanbaria district, on Friday. The brutal incident took place when the border guards of the two neighbours ended regular talks in another Indian state, West Bengal, pledging cooperation for reducing border tension.

An official alleged the four Bangladeshis were abducted and taken into Indian territory by villagers with the help of India’s Border Security Force and shot dead.

He said the BSF had not handed over the bodies to Bangladeshi officials as yet.

TALKS: The talks between Bangladeshi and Indian officials dwelt on the killing of Bangladeshi civilians by BSF, intrusion of BSF and Indian nationals, abduction of Bangladeshi nationals by them and BSF’s bid to push Bengali-speaking Indians to Bangladesh.
