Published September 10, 2005

LAHORE, Sept 9: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has in principle decided to have a paid national selection committee and a decision in this regard will be taken in the ad hoc committee meeting to be held at Karachi on Sept 19. It has also been proposed to dissolve the junior selection committee headed by Iqbal Qasim. A four-member national selection committee will deal with all the affairs of the selection, both related to seniors and the juniors.

The budget for the national selection committee had also been estimated. All the members and its chairman will be paid.

Wasim Bari, the current national selection committee chairman will not be considered since he is an employee of the PIA. The new selection committee will be appointed till next World Cup-2007.

Earlier, the ad hoc committee meeting was to be held in Lahore on Sept 12 but postponed due to lack of quorum.
