KARACHI, Sept 8: Defective Hockey Club of Pakistan pitch and mismanagement by ongoing Super Hockey League organizers made Baloch Lions pay heavily as their penalty corner striker Imran Warsi will miss the action after tearing in knee ligaments. Imran, being considered a possible replacement of retired Sohail Abbas, has been advised at least two-week rest after he damaged his knee ligament during a match against Sindh Qalandars on Thursday.

“It was in the third quarter that I collapsed after damaging my knee ligament because of dry pitch. We have been asking the organizers to water the dry surface but nobody paid heed. I tried to stand but it was too painful and later came to know about the extent of the injury. It will take at least two weeks to heal followed by further treatment.

“Baloch Lions have been awarded seven penalty corners against Frontier Falcons till now. I want to jump into the ground but am restricted to my hotel room and can only watch the game on TV,” he told Dawn on Friday.

The injury means Imran will not be playing in league but he said he would be available for December’s Champions Trophy in Chennai.
