PESHAWAR, Sept 9: On the call of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), the lawyers community observed a partial strike on Friday and demanded General Pervez Musharraf to quit the posts of army chief and president of Pakistan. The Peshawar Bar Association on Friday held a meeting presided over by its President Fida Gul, after a letter of request was received from the PBC.

The council had requested all the bar associations to observe strike and boycott courts from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon.

The meeting was addressed by the general secretary of the association, Ishaq Khalil, Shoukat Ali, Fida Gul, and others. They bitterly criticised Gen Musharraf and stated that Gen Musharraf had played a havoc with the constitution and the affairs of the state had been run in an unconstitutional manner.

A resolution was unanimously adopted through which the policies of General Musharraf were condemned and he was asked to quit both the offices.
