Published September 10, 2005

KARACHI, Sept 9: The Safari Park, which earlier was a part of the Zoo, Safari Park and Aquarium Department, has been upgraded and made independent for better management and development.

Earlier, the Safari Park’s chief used to be a deputy district officer, who was a subordinate of and reported to the district officer of the Zoo.

After its upgradation, the post of its chief has been re-designated as district officer and Tariq Naseer has been posted to it. The former Safari Park chief, Dr Fariq Qadri, has been suspended.

The Zoo, Aquarium and Safari Park have been made part of the Community Development Department (CDD) of the city government and Executive District Officer, Rehana Saif, is heading the CDD.

At least three officers – Mansoor Kazi, Dr Farid Qadri and Ismail Shakir – of the Zoo, Aquarium and Safari Park – who are now subordinates to her – are senior to Ms Saif.

Ms Saif used to work as a pharmacist in the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital till some time back.
