MIRAMSHAH (North Waziristan), Sept 8: Three soldiers were wounded when a military truck was hit by an explosive device in Soor Bagh area of the North Waziristan Agency on Thursday.

Officials said that the truck was on way to Datakhel from Miramshah when it run over the explosive device at about 3pm.

The vehicle was badly damaged and the wounded soldiers were taken to a military hospital set up in the area. The officials believed that miscreants had planted the device.

After the explosion personnel of the Tochi Scouts rushed to the site and surrounded residential compounds. No arrest was made till the last reports.

Meanwhile, paramilitary forces tightened security in Miramshah town after the enforcement of night curfew.

The paramilitary forces had increased the number of checkpoints and parked armed personnel carries at sensitive places. The officials said that two tribesmen had been arrested for displaying arms.

OFFICIAL KIDNAPPED: Meanwhile, masked men hijacked a vehicle of the deputy administrator of the tribal region on Thursday after commandeering it at gunpoint and kidnapping its driver and three tribal police, adds Dilawar Khan Wazir adds from Wana.

The incident happened at a petrol pump in Wana bazaar where armed men in two cars hijacked the vehicle of the assistant political agent, Wana. The APA’s double cabin pick-up truck was being refuelled when taken away.

The gunmen also took the APA’s driver and three Khasadars (personnel of tribal police) but released them a while later after telling them that the vehicle was being taken away on the orders of their commander.

Meanwhile, militants in the South Waziristan Agency have announced observing the anniversary of those killed in the government bombing of a suspected militant training camp in Dela on Sept 9 last year.
