ANP backs strike call

Published September 9, 2005

PESHAWAR, Sept 8: The Awami National Party has announced its support for the wheel-jam strike call given by the Jamaat-i-Islami for Friday. According to a press release issued here on Thursday, ANP provincial President Bashir Ahmad Bilour while addressing a party meeting said that the central and provincial governments had spent a huge money to defeat the ANP-backed candidates in the local body polls held last month. He said that Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani should adopt impartial attitude in the third phase of the elections.

Mr Bilour added that the ANP had secured big mandate in Nowshera and it was their right to get nazim’s seat in the district.—Bureau
