PESHAWAR, Sept 6: A ninth class student of Collegiate School committed suicide in his house in the Hayatabad township on Monday night, police officials said. Sulaiman Shah had been reprimanded by his uncle Behramand, a Peshawar University teacher, when the latter saw him smoking on the campus, the boy’s cousin told police.

On Monday night, he said, Sulaiman went to his room and shot himself dead.

Meanwhile, one person was killed over old enmity in the Sheikh Mohammadi area of Badhber on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday.

Fasihuddin, a resident of the locality, told the Badhber police that he and his brother Samiuddin were passing through a field on their way to the Peshawar city when their rivals opened fire at them. Samiuddin suffered injuries and later died, he added.

Fasih lodged a complaint with police and nominated Jan Wali, Aziz, Hamid, Abid and Asif, all residents of the Sheikh Mohammadi locality, as accused. He said they had old rivalry with the accused.

JAPANESE HELD: The special branch of police on Monday night arrested a Japanese tourist Date Dortore from Sindbad Hotel in the cantonment area, police said.

They said the Japanese, carrying passport MZ-6097796, had been issued a 30-day visa on July 29, but he overstayed in Pakistan without renewing his visa.
