PESHAWAR, Sept 6: NWFP Governor Khalilur Rehman has constituted a sub-committee that will work to strengthen and restructure the governor’s secretariat in order to enable it separately deal with various affairs of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

The decision was taken at a meeting held to discuss issues relating to strengthening and restructuring of the secretariat.

The meeting discussed different opinions about legal, financial and administrative aspects of the creation of a separate secretariat for Fata and decided to appoint a subcommittee under the chief secretary to sort out the issue.

The committee would comprise two representatives each from the provincial government and the secretariat and one from the ministry of state and frontier region, said a handout issued here on Tuesday.

Speaking at the meeting, the North-Western Frontier Province governor said that the size of the annual development programme for Federally Administered Tribal Areas had been enhanced to over Rs5 billion.

He asked the subcommittee to come out with concrete proposals to remove flaws in the system as quickly as possible.
