LAHORE, Sept 6: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi said on Tuesday the PML would fully patronize and honour its assembly members and office-bearers, who would abide by its discipline.

Sincere and patriotic people would be given importance in the PML and those making contacts with other political parties in violation of the party rules would be proceeded against, he told the PML assembly members and office-bearers from Chakwal here.

The statement carries clear message for Majeed Malik who has refused to accept the party nominee and wants to become Chakwal district nazim himself.

Law minister Muhammad Basharat Raja, PML-backed candidate for the seat of Chakwal nazim Sardar Ghulam Abbas were among those present. It was iterated that Mr Abbas was the nominee for the office.

The chief minister said the PML was being organized at all levels with the force of unity. This was so because only a strong and organized PML could guarantee the country’s stability.

He said it was incumbent upon the PML assembly members and office-bearers to expedite the process of social development with unity. They must play their role in the provision of social justice to the people in accordance with the party manifesto.

The victory of a large number of the PML-backed candidates in the local elections had proved that the people wanted to encourage progressive forces in the country, he said.

Mr Abbas said he would come up to the expectations of the party, making it a strong political force in his district.

PML Chakwal President Malik Aslam Saiti said his group had nothing to with the PML-N’s Saleem Iqbal, PPP or any other party.
