KARACHI: E-policing system planned

KARACHI, Sept 6: Sindh Information Technology Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that 10 police stations would be linked with e-policing during the current fiscal year. Addressing a meeting on e-policing in the province, he said that the entire Sindh Police Department would be linked with the system in the next three years.

Mustafa Kamal said that e-policing would be introduced here on the pattern of the system functioning in the developed countries. He was of the view that the province by adopting this system would become a pioneering in modern information technology.

He explained that the information technology department would set up modern digital system in 10 police stations during the current fiscal year while in the second phase more police stations of interior of Sindh would be brought into this system. In third phase, he said, all the police stations of Sindh would be linked with this system.

He lauded the efforts that had been taken regarding updating technicalities of e-policing and added that the Sindh Information Technology Department was striving hard to link all the police stations, jails, investigation and courts in the province on modern lines. This would be in accordance with the international standards, he added.

The minister stated that digital linkage of the police department would enable the province in checking crimes and quick disposal of cases and other related issues. He said that the e-policing system would not only bring the crime rate down but would also greatly facilitate the citizens. He pointed out that digital electronic system would be introduced to enable the police to take criminals and terrorists to the task without any loss of time. –-APP
