ISLAMABAD, Sep 5: President General Pervez Musharraf said on Monday Pakistan was focused on socio-economic development of its people and pursuing a series of mega-projects to translate recent economic gains into improvement in the lives of the common man. He was speaking to Asian Development Bank President Haruhiko Kuroda, who had called on him.

“Having achieved higher economic growth, we are now in the process of realizing basic health care and electricity for all Pakistanis by 2007,” he said.

Pakistan, he said, valued the bank’s contribution to its development.

The ADB chief appreciated continuity of the government policies and high economic growth and renewed bank’s commitment to Pakistan’s development in the years ahead.
