Misbah to lead ‘A’ side

LAHORE, Sept 5: As many as eight Test players were named on Monday in the 15-member Pakistan ‘A’ squad for the first four-day match against Australia ‘A’ at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from Sept 11. Salman Butt, Yasir Hameed, Shoaib Malik, Asim Kamal, Mohammad Sami and Umar Gul are in the squad.

Fast bowler Mohammad Irshad, who bowled with fire against the South Africans, is however, fortunate enough to make the Pakistan ‘A’ team.

Misbah was named skipper since Hasan Raza will miss the first match because of latter’s marriage next week.

Squad: Misbahul Haq (captain), Salman Butt, Yasir Hameed, Shoaib Malik, Bazid Khan, Asim Kamal, Zulqarnain Haider (wicket-keeper), Imran Tahir, Mohammad Sami, Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul, Asher Zaidi, Yasir Arafat, Faisal Iqbal, Mohammad Irshad.

Stand-bys: Shahid Nazir, Naumanullah, Imran Farhat, Mansoor Amjad, Shahid Yousuf, Yasir Ali, Najaf Shah, Mohammad Khalil, Hasan Raza, Taufiq Umar, Arshad Khan, Rao Iftikhar.
