MANDI BAHAUDDIN, Sept 5: An infant was axed to death while nine other family members were injured seriously on early hours of Monday by around a dozen people at Mouza Mangit, some 10 kilometres from here. Reports said that Raja Tariq Muhammad had kidnapped Nargis, the daughter of Muhammad Javed, some months ago and contracted court marriage with her in Lahore. Later, on the intervention of area elites, Tariq divorced Nargis some 20 days back and handed her over to her parents in the presence of some dignitaries.

On Monday, Muhammad Javed and Azam along with their 12 accomplices, equipped with axes, entered Tariq Mehmood’s house and injured seriously his father Ilyas and mother Sakina Bibi. Later, they barged into the house of Iftikhar Ahmed, husband of Tariq’s sister, and also injured him, his wife Farzana Kauser, daughter Sumera, sons Saqib Ali, Aasim Ali, Tariq’s brother Faisal Mehmood and guest Muneer Ahmed. Among the injured, Saqib died after some time while Sumera, Sakina and Ilyas were shifted to a Lahore hospital in serious condition. The remaining six injured were admitted to the local DHQ Hospital.
