TIMERGARA: A man allegedly axed to death his brother over a domestic dispute here on Friday.

The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Zaimdara Maidan police station.

Residents said the deceased, Amin Khan, 22, of Mirgam Payeen, and the accused, Asif, lived in the same house. They said an exchange of harsh words led to the killing. The accused escaped the scene. The police registered a case.

Meanwhile, the Lower Dir finance officer and focal person for subsidised flour Hafeezullah along with assistant director consumer court Ziaur Rehman visited different bazaars in Odigram and fined several butchers for overcharging and not maintaining hygiene.

They also booked several shopkeepers for violating official price list. Talking to journalists, Mr Hafeezullah asked butchers to sell meat at Rs370 and mutton at Rs750 per kilogramme. He said the administration was committed to providing relief to the poor segments of society by controlling profiteering and price hike.

Also in the day, the Al-Khidmat Foundation distributed food packages among 80 families of Rabat, Aseegi, Cinalai and Tangi.

Federation’s general secretary for Rabat, Asghar Ali distributed the packages consisting of flour, rice, sugar, ghee, dates and pulses.

UPLIFT SCHEMES APPROVED: The district development advisory committee (DDAC) has approved 688 uplift projects.

A meeting in this regard was held at the district assembly hall in Balambat here the other day with Deputy Commissioner Saadat Hassan in the chair. DDAC chairman MPA Liaqat Ali and others were present on the occasion.

The meeting discussed the Annual Development Programme for the year 2019-20 and approved 688 new development projects to be completed within the next one year.

Speaking on the occasion, MPA Liaqat Ali and Deputy Commissioner Saadat Hassan directed the departments concerned to complete the projects within the stipulated time.

They said that there would be no compromise on quality of work and contractors involved in using substandard material would be made accountable.

Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 district head Izhar Alam and station head Sanaullah told journalists the other day that dozens of disinfection sprays were conducted in the district.

They said that Rescue 1122 had two ambulances equipped with oxygen kits, first aid box, telephone, coronavirus kits, hydraulic cutter and lifesaving drugs. They said that Rescue 1122 had four more vehicles.
