RAWALPINDI: A young newlywed couple was murdered allegedly by the bride’s family in Nasir Colony of Chaklala Scheme III on Tuesday, police said.

The 25-old man and the 18-year-old woman, whose parents lived in the same street, contracted court marriage three days ago against the wishes of the bride’s family.

Police have been unable to arrest the woman’s father and brothers in connection with the double murder.

Police said the bride’s father and brothers came to the house of the young man and dragged the couple to their house where they were tortured and then gunned down.

The mother of the young man lodged an FIR with the Airport police stating she had five daughters and five sons and lived in Chaklala III since her husband passed away three years ago.

She said her son had contracted court marriage with the woman of his choice who lived in a rented house in the same street.

The couple had arrived in their home on Monday evening after getting court marriage.

She said her son and his wife along with her daughter and another son were present at home at 1:30am when the woman’s father along with his five sons and some unidentified people forced their way into her house after breaking the main door.

She said they beat up her son and his wife and dragged them into the street and took them to their home and killed them.

She said after shooting her son and daughter-in-law, the suspects also kicked and punched them.

Later, the alleged killers escaped from the area brandishing their weapons.

According to a police report, the man sustained at least six bullet injuries and bruises on his body while his wife sustained three bullet injuries and multiple bruises on the body.

The bodies of the victims were handed over to their heirs after a postmortem. Police said efforts were underway to arrest the killers.
