KARACHI, Sept 3: Sailors from India and Sri Lanka (SL) will be arriving here on Sept 7 to take part in tri-nation team event of South Asian Yachting Regatta (SAYR), an official Pakistan Sailing Federation (PSAF) said on Saturday.

The Regatta is scheduled to be held on Sept 9-12 at DHA Marina Club.

Secretary, (PSAF), Captain (Retd) Syed Waqar Hasan said that Pakistan had a good chance to defend their title as it contained potential winners in Lt. Comm. Mammon Sadiq, Lt. Comm. Zahid Rauf and Shahryar Arshad.

But he was of the view that a tough fight was expected in the event especially against traditional rivals India.

Pakistan won the SAYR 2004 held in Sri Lanka, which was restored after 20 years. Next year the SAYR would be held in India.

Waqar, who is also the vice-chairman of Organising Committee of SAYR (Karachi) said that arrangements regarding the event had been completed to hold it in a befitting manner.

The PSAF secretary said Pakistan would announce its final team on Sunday after completion of trials.—PPI
