KARACHI, Sept 3: The PML-backed Khushhal Pakistan Group and MQM-backed Haq Parast Group would field joint candidate for in the election for the nazim of the City District Government Karachi, Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said while talking to reporters at the CM’s House here on Saturday.

Modalities of joint strategy are yet to be finalized, he said, adding that PML and MQM leaderships were in contact with each other in this regard.

Dr Arbab said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain would hold meetings with MQM leaders to work out the plan. However, he said, there had been no pact so far, nor was there any commitment by either party in this respect.

The chief minister said that an announcement would be made as and when an understanding between the two side was reached.

In reply to a question, he remarked that the MQM enjoyed majority in Karachi and, as such, it should have a free hand.

In response to another question, he said that a decision with regard to the candidate for Karachi nazim would be taken after completing the required working.

On this occasion, the chief minister announced names of Kushhal Pakistan Panel’s and its allied groups’ candidates for nazims in the interior Sindh.

Following is the list of the candidates: District Naushehro Feroz: Aqib Jatoi (KPP); Tehsil Naushehro Feroz: Mir Mohammad Mubejo; Tehsil Bhiria: Sohail Abbasi; Tehsil Mehrabpur: Syed Ibrar Shah (PPP-Patriots); Teshil Moro: Dr Jam Noor Korejo; District Khairpur: Pir Niaz Hussain Shah (PML-F/Faqir Dost Panel); District Badin: Anwar Halepoto; Tehsil Matli: Mansoor Ali Nizamani; Tehsil Shaheed Fazil Rahu: Aslam Rahu; Tehsil Tando Bago: Pir Hamid Shah Rashdi; District Thatta: Syed Shafqat Shah; Tehsil Thatta: Dil Mohammad Memon; Taluka Mirpur Sakro: Abdul Ghani Gaghyar; Taluka Ghorabari: Nazeer Ahmed Kehar, Taluka Jati: Mir Mohammad Oto; Taluka Sujawal: Ghulam Akram Shah Shirazi; Taluka Mirpur Bathoro: Arbab Haji Rameez Memon; and Taluka Shah Bandar: Haji Shaukat Ali Malkani.

A decision regarding the candidate for nazims of Tehsil Khairpur, Tehsil Badin and Tehsil Talhar is yet to be taken.

Dr Arbab said that candidates for nazims of districts Sukkur and Shikarpur would the same as announced earlier but it would be decided later that whether the KPP candidates would be contesting or those of the PML-F. Pir Sadaruddin Shah and Syed Ali Bux Shah were also present on the occasion.—APP
