NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Jan 17: The 1973 Constitution is the main hindrance to provincial autonomy, said the acting president Ponam, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, while addressing the District Bar Association on Thursday.

Mr Achakzai said that he and the other Ponam leaders were democratic and were against imperialism and feudalism.

He said that he was not against Punjab and he did not hate any language but he added that he was against the type of democracy which Punjab gave in the name of parity by saying that 52 per cent former East Pakistanis were equivalent to 48 per cent West Pakistanis.

He criticized the ISI saying that its role should be limited.

He said that the CIA did not make/introduce the American president but he was elected through the democratic process of fair elections.

Mr Achakzai criticized the big political parties like the PPP and the Muslim League.

He said that Benazir Bhutto disclosed in London that she was not a free-hand prime minister and was “compelled to compromise with the army”.

He said that Ponam would not compromise with any force or party on account of provincial autonomy.

MORO TOWN: Dr Qadir Magsi, the chairman of the Sindh Tarraqi Passand Party while addressing people on the National Highway, Moro, on Thursday said that Punjab was dominating over Sindhis, Balochi, Siraikis and Pashtoons.

He said that Punjab was taking the major portion of the taxes received at Karachi ports, and was not ready to give royalty of Sui Gas.

He added that Punjab must change its attitude towards the other provinces of Pakistan.
