LAHORE, Sept 2: The Pakistan Motor Transport Federation has demanded immediate increase in fares of buses and wagons for covering operational costs in view of increase in diesel prices.
Federation Vice-President Haji Naseer Ahmed Butt said in a statement that the government had raised bus fare by paisa four kilometres in March this year after an increase of Rs3.14 in diesel prices from May 1, 2004 to January 31, 2005. Diesel prices had increased by another Rs7.43 per litre after the fare revision requiring a further increase in bus fare as transporters were incurring an operation loss of paisa 11 per kilometres due to delay in fare revision.
