KARACHI, Sept 2: Various parts of six towns of the city will go dry for 48 hours, starting from 9am on Monday, due to closure being applied by the KWSB to facilitate inter-connection works of the new filter plant at Pipri.

The towns and localities which will not get water from Monday morning till early Wednesday morning include Landhi, Korangi, DHA, Korangi Creek, KESC Thermal power plant, National Refinery Limited, Shah Faisal Colony, Malir Halt, Kala Board, all those areas of Malir Town which are hooked to Saudabad and Mohammadi pumping stations; KDA Scheme-I and Gulshan-i-Jamal.

The KWSB chief engineer (water distribution) told Dawn that the closure of water to these localities was due to the carrying out of interconnection works of Pipri’s new filter plant.

He said that though Pipri plant’s interconnection work would be completed by 9pm on Tuesday, water supply to all the affected localities would be restored by early Wednesday morning.

The KWSB official, however, clarified that though some other localities were also supplied water from the Pipri pumping station, arrangements had been made to ensure uninterrupted water supply during the closure period. In all 114 million gallons of water is supplied from the Pipri pumping station to various parts of the city, he added.
