The United States Ambassador to Pakistan Paul Jones has announced that the country will contribute $8.4 million to help Pakistan combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
Some $3m from the contribution will be used to provide three new mobile labs in Pakistan's coronavirus hotspots to increase its testing and monitoring capacity while high-tech emergency operations centres will be established in Islamabad, Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Part of the contribution will also be used to train healthcare workers to reach people in their homes so that burden on hospitals can be reduced.
