PESHAWAR, Aug 31: A French tourist died apparently due to excessive use of narcotics at a local hotel here on Tuesday night, police officials said.

He is the second foreign tourist after Japanese Yamada to die in the city last week.

The French tourist, Dauvin Phibaut arrived here on Monday and hired a room in a hotel in the cantonment area.

The hotel management called out the local police when the tourist did not come out of the room since his arrival.

The police opened the room and found Dauvin Phibaut dead.

Doctors said the tourist seemed to have died from using narcotics in excess. The police have started investigation.

GANGS BUSTED: The city police claimed to have busted 18 organized gangs of car-lifters and seized 50 stolen vehicles from them during the first eight months of the year.

This was said by the SSP operation at a press conference here on Wednesday.
