THIS is apropos your editorial ‘Covid-19 misinformation’ (March 31). There is no denying the fact that since Covid-19 outbreak in Pakistan, there is a flood of misinformation regarding the pandemic.

Recently, I received a video in a WhatsApp group in which a man suggested alcohol as a cure for coronavirus. In another video, someone advised people to drink boiling hot water as a cure of the virus.

Unfortunately, I found many young boys recently drinking alcoholic beer following the misinformation that went viral on social media. Such misinformation can indeed be harmful to hundreds and thousands of people.

I urge people not to share such misleading information about coronavirus and follow authentic sources regarding the pandemic. The media should play its role in countering such negative and wrong information about the virus.
