KARACHI, Aug 30: An all-party conference held under auspices of Sunni Tehreek has demanded that in view of massive rigging in the local government elections on Aug 18 and 25, the elections be declared null and void and fresh elections be conducted by an impartial election commission.

This demand was made by one of the resolutions adopted at the APC held on Tuesday which was presided over by the ST chief Iftikhar Bhatti. Other participants included Hafiz Muhammad Taqi of MMA, Nasrullah Shaji–MPA, Farooq Bangash of ANP, Hashim Siddiqui of JUP, Basharat Mirza of the PDP, and others.

The APC expressed concern over killing of religious scholars and political leaders and workers, and condemned the failure of the authorities to arrest the killers.

By another resolution the APC condemned firing at the residences of Central ST leader Mohammad Abbas Quaderi, Prof Senator Ghafoor Ahmad, PPP leader Nisar Ahmad Khuhro and others and demanded arrest of those involved in attacks on political and religious leaders. They further demanded that action being taken against Madaris at the behest of US be stopped.
