KARACHI, Aug 30: Two boats, carrying 1,108 Pakistanis deported by the Omani government, arrived early on Tuesday morning at Ghas Bander, Keamari. The arrangements for their release and deportation were made by the Ansar Burney Welfare Trust, with the help of Pakistan embassy in Muscat and the Government of Oman.

The vessels, Al-Mohammadi-II and Al-Qadri, were received by Syed Fahad Burney, Syed Sarim Burney, and volunteers Mehnaz Anwar, and Qadir Ahmed.

They travelled in two boats. Most of them were sick, and were provided food and clothes by the trust. Later, they were released by the FIA.

They left the Muscat border on Friday and travelled for about four days, many of them have been suffering from diarrhoea. The job seekers, most of them illiterate hailed from the upcountry, and had been smuggled to the Gulf state through Taftan after they paid different amounts to traffickers.

According to the deportees, they travelled in human traffickers’ vehicles in batches of 22 each, for two days to reach an Iranian border town.—PPI
