ISLAMABAD, Aug 29: Pakistan’s Maria Toor and Muqaddas Ashraf qualified for the main round of the WISPA squash tournament on Monday at the Jahangir Khan Complex in Wah.

Maria needed only 21 minutes to outplay Saima Shaukat 9-4, 9-4, 9-2 on the final day of the qualifying rounds while Muqaddas beat Misbah Rani 9-4, 9-4, 9-7 in just about half an hour.

Both the losers — Saima and Misbah — also went through joining compatriots Carla Khan, the top seed, Ana Batool and wild card Sarah Awan.

Organisers said that England’s Suzie Pierrepont had pulled out while India’s Joshna Chinappa may or may not make it. If she does not arrive, she will be replaced in the draw by Saima Shaukat.

The four-day main round of the tournament is due to get under way on Tuesday with Carla taking on Muqaddas.

First round matches: Carla Khan (Pak) v Muqaddas Ashraf (Pak), Jenna Gates (Eng) v Sally Looi (Mas), Lim Yoke Wah (Mas) v Misbah Rani (Pak), Ana Batool (Pak) v Delia Arnold (Mas), Siti Munirah (Mas) v Line Hansen (Den), Maria Toor (Pak) v Tricia Chuah (Mas), Joshana Chinappa (Ind) v Lee Hai-Kyung (Kor), Sarah Awan (Pak) v Sharon Wee (Mas).
