LAHORE, Aug 29: The District Regional Transport Authority on Monday decided to issue route permits for operation of mini-buses and wagons on 37 routes in the city district from Thursday.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the authority held here with District Coordination Officer Khalid Sultan in the chair.

It was also decided to re-number the routes from 101 to 137 after cancelling the existing route numbers. The Punjab transport secretary had approved the routes for operation of wagons in June.

Most of the routes specified for operation of mini-buses and wagons conform to old alignments but have been given new numbers.

Permits for operation of wagons and mini-buses will be issued on routes of Mayo Hospital-Kot Lakhpat, Rang Mahal-Bakkar Mandi, Rang Mahal-Pakki Thathi, Railway Station-Pakki Thathi, Railway Station-Marghazar Colony, Lohari Gate-Civil Services Academy (Walton Road), General Bus Stand-Liaquat Chowk (Sabzazar).

Railway Station-Nishat Colony, China Scheme-Sikandria Colony, R.A Bazaar-Guru Kay Aasin, Railway Station-Bhogiwal, Thokar Niazbeg-Kot Lakhpat, R.A Bazaar-Jhamon Shareef, Bhati Gate-Railway Station, Kot Abdul Malik-Chauburji, Thokar Niazbeg-Gowala Colony, Manga-Kahna, R.A Bazaar-Bhangali, General Bus Stand-Nizamabad, Kot Lakhpat Phatak-Raiwind, Rang Mahal-Naunarian Chowk, Railway Station-Naunarian Chowk.

Jallo Morr-Minhala, Daroghawala-Bhaini, Shaukat Khanum Hospital to Phatak, Railway Station-Mari Morr, Bhati-Bhangali Bagh, Bhati-Gujjarpura Scheme, Bhati-China Scheme, Kahna Nau-Sadar Chowk, General Bus Stand-Shaukat Khanum Hospital via Samanabad, Bhati-Allama Iqbal Town, Kahna-Raiwind, Chungi Amar Sidhu-Bhoobatian Chowk, Jallo Morr-Thatta, Jallo-Narwar Pind and Jallo-Mandiyala routes.

DRTA secretary Chaudhry Ashraf Zahid said the authority would issue route permits for operation of wagons and mini-buses while the fitness certificates by the motorvehicle examiner. No model condition would be applied for the issuance of route permits nor there would be any restriction on the maximum number of wagons on any specific route.
