MARDAN: The police on Saturday arrested the suspected killer of an eight-year-old girl whose body was found dumped in a nullah in Janabad area here the other day.

District police officer Sajjad Khan told mediapersons that after the report that a girl had gone missing on Thursday, a team led by SP operations Waqar Azeem was constituted to recover the missing girl. However, he said the team found the body of the girl stuffed in a sack on Friday.

The DPO said the police arrested the suspect identified as Akhtar Hussain,30, on Saturday, who confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Mr Sajjad said the girl’s father owned a factory in Rashakai Industrial Estate and the killer was his employee.

The police officer said the man confessed that he had killed the girl after sexually assaulting her when she visited his home.

The suspected killer, who had two wives, was also presented before the media.
