Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly, PML-N's Hamza Shahbaz has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking bail amid the "extraordinary, alarming" coronavirus situation in the country.

The petition states that "the concern about spread of coronavirus is most relevant to the prisons," adding that the confined space in prison makes it "virtually impossible to implement the policy of social distancing".

It also states that the situation poses a risk to the life of [Hamza Shahbaz] and requests the court to grant him bail.

Hamza had been arrested in connection with cases of money laundering and possessing assets beyond his known means of income.
